Single Purpose K9 Police Dog Training
Patrol – Format I
Landheim pre-trains a suitable dog. This dog will be trained to meet specifications for a patrol dog. The department then sends it’s officer through a four week handler course. This course includes both classroom and practical field work. This course is superior to other handler courses because of the amount of knowledge the handler receives. You get back a trained dogs as well as a trained officer.
Format I is inclusive of the purchase of the dog, pre-training of the dog, all instruction, use of equipment, notebook, kenneling and board for the handler’s dog along with FREE maintenance training the first year; nominal fee thereafter. Classes are limited to six officers per session. Housing and food for the officer are not included.

A department may send its own officer and dog both having received prior training from another source through a four week handler course. The dog must pass the Landheim selection test. This course includes both classroom and practical field work. Format II is inclusive of all instruction, use of equipment, notebook, kenneling and board of the officer’s dog along with FREE maintenance training the first year; nominal fee thereafter. Classes are limited to six officers per session.
Housing and food for the officer are not included. In order to guarantee enrollment in the Patrol I or II course, Landheim must receive a signed contract from the department accompanied by a check or purchase order number for one-half of the contract price, six weeks prior to the first day of class. Any department may sign up by telephone but will not be guaranteed the class until contract and money or purchase order are received. Balance due at start of first class.
Narcotics – Format I (Passive or Aggressive Alert)
Landheim pre-trains a suitable dog. This dog will be trained to meet specifications for a narcotics detector dog. The department then sends it’s officer through a four week handler course. This course includes both classroom and practical field work. This course is superior to other handler courses because of the amount of knowledge the handler receives. You get back a trained dog as well as a trained officer.

Landheim will conduct an Arson Detector dog training program. This program will allow the handler and a pre-trained dog to receive four weeks of arson detection training. This comprehensive training course will include classroom and extensive field work. Arson Format I is inclusive of all instruction, use of equipment, textbooks, purchase of dog, kenneling and board of officer’s dog along with FREE maintenance training the first year; nominal fee thereafter.
Housing and food for the officer are not included. In order to guarantee enrollment in the Explosive course, Landheim must receive a signed contract from the department accompanied by a check or purchase order number for one-half of the contract price, six weeks prior to the first day of class. Police Canine Trainer Course Information
The Landheim Law Enforcement Training Center takes great pride in the quality of its training programs and staff. Our goal is to always offer the latest and best training available. The Police Canine Trainer course is geared towards training an officer from your department in new, innovative methods of Police Dog Training. The Police Canine Trainer Course, which is eight weeks in duration and entails 360 hours of instruction, is detailed with information concerning psychological evaluation of prospective K-9’s. This knowledge gives an excellent awareness of what limitations and potentials exist with your dog.
Police Canine Trainer Course Formats
Format I
Landheim will conduct an eight week Police Canine Trainer Program where your officer will receive training to prepare him or her to handle the training and retraining needs of your department’s K-9. This in-depth training course will include classroom, written exams and field work. Tuition for this course includes the purchase of a dog, all instruction, use of equipment, notebooks, kenneling and board of the dog. This does not include food and lodging for the officer.
Format II
You may choose to send your officer to our eight week Trainer School and not purchase a dog. The tuition does not including housing or food for the officer.
Format III
Landheim will conduct a condensed Police Canine Trainer Course, four or six weeks in duration, for either Patrol or Detector. Cost for the course is determined by Patrol or Detector courses and whether or not a dog is purchased. This does not include food or lodging for your officer.
